The group Anonymous has posted Anaheim Police Chief John Welter's address, phone number and other personal information on various Internet sites in protest over two deadly officer-involved shootings in the city.
The anti-establishment group, which said it is acting in support of local protesters, has also threatened to deface the Anaheim Police Department's websites, wipe out its faxes and flood its email system as part of a wider effort to get people to boycott the city. In its Web postings, it also details the location of a MySpace site for Welter.
The department did not return calls seeking comment on whether it has been subject to cyber attacks and what measures are being taken to protect officials' information and personal data.

The Anonymous postings came to light as protesters plan to march Friday night in Los Angeles, from 6th Street and Union Avenue in Westlake to the LAPD's Rampart station. Other solidarity protests from Oakland to New York are planned for Friday and into the weekend.
Anaheim police on Friday morning again opened fire on a suspect -- this time inside a car.
Officers responded to a burglary alarm about 3:15 a.m. at a clubhouse in a residential area near Water and Melrose streets. As officers approached the building, a suspect fled, said Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn.
Police said they are searching for a black pickup truck with a utility rack.
The suspect who ran from the scene was identified as Abel Frank Armenta, 36, of Placentia. He was caught by a police dog as he was hiding in some bushes, Dunn said. Armenta is a paroled burglar and was treated for a dog bite, police said.
